We value our work and our goal is to create a comfortable and optimal fitting custom orthosis that meets the individual needs of our patients. Our patients are often active members in their communities so it is a challenge and a privilege to make sure each of our orthotic patients are living their lives at their highest quality with no or as few limitations as possible.
Every patient is unique. We recognize that each orthotic patient is unique and has individual aspirations. We provide a unique and comprehensive approach that allows each of our patients the ability to reach their particular goals and desires.
Diabetic shoes decrease the risk of diabetic foot ulcers and thereby reduce amputations. They provide support and protection while minimizing pressure points on the feet. They also have extra depth to accommodate diabetic inserts. There are many styles to choose from, and the shoes look much like any other shoe. What separates diabetic shoes from regular street shoes is that diabetic shoes come in widths and depths. Diabetic shoes are often wider and deeper than regular shoes to accommodate a special multi-density insert that is designed to reduce pressure and callouses to the bottom of feet. Diabetic shoes have a larger “toe box” to prevent squeezing of the toes.
Our orthotic practitioner will measure your feet and let you select from appropriate selections in our shoe catalogues. Upon arrival, we then fit them on you along with the custom diabetic inserts we custom make for you. The shoes are not kept in stock. You are allowed one pair per calendar year.
Once you have seen your MD, DO, DPM, FNP, they usually will prescribe diabetic shoes with inserts. Medicare and Medicaid diabetic patients are allowed one pair of shoes and three pairs of inserts per calendar year. For your insurance to approve this, you must have an in-person visit with your treating diabetic doctor and they must fill out and sign a “Statement of Certifying Physician for Therapeutic Shoes” form we send them and also send us their medical notes from your visit.
All of our custom foot and ankle orthoses require an evaluation to determine the reason for needing customization. A measurement of the foot or ankle is taken, and the custom device is made on-site in our fabrication labs.
After the custom orthosis is fabricated, the patient will be notified and a second appointment will be made for the fitting of the orthosis. We value the quality of our work, and we will often make adjustments at this fitting appointment to ensure that the orthosis is fitting comfortably and its functionality meets the needs of our patients.

Positive Reviews From Our Patients
The best place to go for prosthetics!! I've tried the other two companies in Cape before and SEMO Prosthetics is the BEST!! Their work and customer service are A+! Horace goes above and beyond to make sure his customers are taken care of. I wish I would have known about this place sooner.
I HIGHLY recommend these wonderful people! Hoss and Stephanie treated us like old friends, from the 1st phone call and consultation, to making sure my husband's new prosthesis, that Hoss made, was the perfect fit! Then they customized inserts for both my 11 year old son, and my husband. Both say they help tremendously! No stress involved with our experience here. They take care of you. Try them out!!!
I am a below the knee double amputee and have been taken care of by all these wonderful, caring professionals since 2012. The personal care is outstanding and not like a "corporate owned" service that slaps legs on you and sends you on your way. I think I have driven Hoss Hodges and prior to him his father Bill (RIP) nuts because I am pretty fussy. They listened to me and turned my concerns into real solutions. No appointment is short. Time is taken to talk, listen and make the outcome successful. I love these guys. They gave me back my independence. I am so glad you are reaching out to others because you are the best and everyone should know this. Thank you!
